A
Look Back at the Year That Was 2008-2009
Hudson Relay for Life: Wrap-up
4:00 pm
Friday to 4:00 pm Saturday, June 12 - June 13
Hudson
High School School Track
2500
Hudson-Aurora Road
Thank you so much to everyone who
helped out with Relay for Life (June
12 - 13). It was truly a
moving and wonderful experience, and
I encourage everyone to get involved
again next year. If you can
only participate in a small part,
the Survivor's Walk at the beginning
and the Luminaria Ceremony are both
incredibly touching, especially
if you can attend with your family.
Our team raised nearly $4,000 (and
still growing), exceeding our $3,000
goal!! We also won the "Best
Team Campsite Award" for our
Marga-relay-ville theme (thank you
Jen Kodosky for this wonderful
idea).
And thank you to those survivors
that chose to participate with us.
We were truly blessed to have you
there and hope that our efforts make
a difference to everyone.
51st Annual Fashion Show -
Puttin' on The Glitz
Saturday,
April 25th 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Lake
Forest Country Club, Hudson
Tickets
$35 per person
Hudson Newcomer's 51st
Annual Fashion Show - Puttin' on the Glitz
- was a huge success.
This year's event boasted a Silent Auction (with
plenty of items to bid on), a number of vendors
selling fashion related items (jewelry, clothing,
purses, etc), and of course a number of local men and
women modeling clothes from local merchants!

the
Fashion Show 2009 Gallery to view photos of the
event.
The Fashion Show is a long
standing Newcomers event and it's always loads of fun.
Plus, proceeds from Puttin' on the Glitz
benefited The Hudson City Schools Special Needs Program.
This year's event raised $3.300.
This event could not
have taken place without the help and support of many
local merchants, friends and family members.
Thanks to you all and to Lori Kellett and Renee Logue who
coordinated Puttin on the Glitz.

Fashion Show Program to view
complete information (including contact info) of the merchants who loaned fashions
for the show; corporate and private supporters that donated
cash, products, or services; and vendors that participated in the boutique.
Couples Pub Crawl
Saturday,
May 16th
Began at Reserve Inn, then moved on to other downtown
sites
A great time
was had by all who attended this year's pub crawl.
Attendees were broken up into different teams and head
out to conquer their list of clues while enjoying the
company of old and new friends at venues all throughout
downtown Hudson.
Salon Night
Tuesday,
May 5th
Salon
180, Hudson
This was the
perfect event for those looking for
highlights, lowlights, or a new color altogether, or
maybe getting those toes ready for sandal time! The Hudson Newcomers Club
Annual Salon night returned this year. Thanks to Salon
180 for hosting this event and allowing our members
to experience some of the services they have to
offer while mingling with friends.
Couples' Winter
Social:
Retro Red Bash
Saturday,
February 7th
The
Country Club of Hudson
Well, our
big Winter Event is now behind us, but here's a few
photos to remind everyone how much fun was had and to
encourage those who couldn't make it this time to try to
join us for our next event. The photos show those
that chose to dress retro, but just as many showed up in
everyday 2009 attire. More photos can be viewed at
Red Bash Gallery.
What was
the Retro Red Bash?
A night to grab your spouse and/or friends for a night
of fun to chase away those winter blues. We enjoyed music (and dancing),
trivia games, a 50/50 Raffle, appetizers and a cash bar.
Best of all,
a portion of the ticket price and half of the 50/50
raffle was donated to
the American Heart Association in honor of their
Go Red
for Women
program. So, we enjoyed a great night out and helped fund the
fight against heart disease in women! That's
something to smile about. How much was raised, you
ask?
We raised $600 for the American Heart Association!
Way to go Lisa Pierce and Jenna Polak for coordinating
this effort!
Girls Night Out at
the Wine Bar at Solaire
Thursday,
January 15th
Wine Bar
at Solaire, 111 First Street in Hudson
appetizers & cash bar
Turn out was
great for this opportunity to break out of the house on
a very cold winter night to catch up with friends, both
new and old. It was particularly nice to have a
number of very new members come out and join in.
If you haven't been to the Wine Bar, and couldn't join
us this time, grab you spouse or a friend and go check
it out. It's a very hip spot, perched on a great
corner of downtown and for those who don't know, there
are also a few hotel rooms available for your out of
town guests.
Membership Event
at Yoga Lounge
Wednesday, November 19th at 7:30pm
Yoga
Lounge, top level of 1st and Main parking garage
For those
looking for a workout program that's easy to learn,
requires little or no equipment, and soothes your soul
while toning your body, this was a great night! It
was an evening of demonstrations, instruction and
participation for all. The facilities and ambience
at the Yoga Lounge are outstanding and if you weren't
able to try it out during this event, you should make a
point to go on your own. Your first visit will be
free of charge.
Couples Fall
Social
Saturday,
October 25th
Sarah's
Vineyard (1204 W. Steels Corners Road, Cuyahoga Falls)
Couples
looking to enjoy the season, packed their picnic baskets
and headed out to Sarah's Vineyard for an
easy-going couples fall social. Good company,
wine and shared snacks were enjoyed by all attending.
Couldn't make it, but want to know more about Sarah's
Vineyard? Go to

Monthly
Program: Extreme Bunco
Tuesday,
September 30th
North End
Market
What an
event! It once again proved to be a Newcomers favorite.
The 54 attendees enjoyed heavy appetizers and desserts,
plus North End Market's fabulous wines. The dice
were flying and the 50/50 raffle tickets were a hit.
Half of the money raised from the raffle will be donated
to Relay for Life.
