Special
Interest Activities to Check Out
August Wine
Tasting - Beer Tasting Event
Saturday,
August 14 at 7:30 pm
Theme:
Wheat Beer
Home of
Lance and Andra Meyer
The Wine
Tasting Group meets every 4-6 weeks (with a break over
the summer) to sample different
varietals of wine and is open to all current members**.
The hosting couple chooses a theme and/or a wine
selection and each couple enters their own bottle in the
competition. The couple who has the "best" bottle
receives the evening's "pot." Please bring $5
along with 1 bottle to enter in the contest, 1 bottle to
share and an appetizer or dessert of your choice.
For more information, please contact our coordinator,
Isabelle Rodau, at
wine@hudsonnewcomer.org.
In
August
we will mix it up and offer a Summer Beer Tasting
Event instead. Please bring one six-pack of
WHEAT BEET for the contest (if you make your own
beer, that is acceptable too), a bottle of your
favorite wine to share, $5 cash to enter the
competition, and either an appetizer or dessert to share
**While all
current HNC members are invited, you must RSVP for each
event. Contact Isabelle Rodau at
wine@hudsonnewcomers.org to be added to the Evite
list, enabling you to RSVP.
Casual
Supper: Summer Break
We'll Start Back Up in September
Coordinator: Kami Imes
Location TBD once hosting is set
Wow! The year has gone by quickly and
we're now on a break for summer. So we
hope you all enjoy plenty of backyard grilling
with family and friends and we'll kick off
another year of Casual Supper in September.
Look for an email from our new coordinator, Kami
Imes, sometime in August with the supper
calendar for the new season.
For
those unfamiliar with Casual Supper Club, here's
how it works. First, please contact Kami
Imes (Supper Club coordinator) at
(casualsupper@hudsonnewcomers.org)
and join the group, if you haven't
already.
Next, RSVP to Kami by the deadline date if you plan to attend so she has
time to set up the groups. When
responding, let her know if you would be willing
to host dinner this month. If you can
host, please include the number of couples you
can accommodate. We will need at least 3
volunteers (it's really easy!) Kami will
then arrange the groups for the month and you
will be contacted about where you'll be dining
and what you're supposed to bring.
Finally, let Kami know if you would like to
continue in the Casual Supper group next year,
or if you're not currently involved, if you
would like to join the group.

About
Hudson Newcomers Club
The Hudson
Newcomers Club is a social organization that was established
in 1954 to "acquaint the newcomer with Hudson, its
residents and other newcomers".
While the
club's original intent was to welcome newcomers, we are now
open to ALL women of Hudson. For those of you who've
just moved in, you'll find our relaxed atmosphere and
variety of members a great way to meet new friends and learn
about all Hudson has to offer. For those who are not
new to Hudson but are seeking more contacts within the
community, we hope you too will be rewarded by the exciting
calendar of events throughout the year. We have
monthly programs for our general membership and also a
variety of social events for couples and families.
to see more information on what's coming up next.
We also offer
Special Interest Groups which allow members to meet
and share their common interests. Some, like Book Club
and Bunco, are for women only, while others, like Wine
Tasting and Casual Supper, are for couples. And now we
even have something for the guys! Men's Poker Night is
now available for the spouses of members. Please see
our Special
Interest Groups page for more information on
these clubs and when they meet next.
Our monthly
newsletter is filled with interesting information and our
membership directory is published annually in the fall.
For more
information on our club, please contact our President,
Becky Hinkle, at
president@hudsonnewcomers.org. Brochures can also
be found at the Hudson Library, local realtors' offices and
the Hudson Chamber of Commerce.
We look
forward to meeting you soon!

"Get
Involved in Hudson!" That is the theme of
Hudson Newcomers annual Get Acquainted Coffee at the Hudson
Library and Historical Society.
The "Coffee"
is designed to welcome new residents to the area and
help them discover all of the wonderful ways to get
involved in the community. It is also a great way

Extreme
Bunco Returns and it's time to bust out the dice!
Soon the new Hudson Newcomers Club will kick off a new
year and that means it's time for Extreme Bunco night.
If you haven't been before, this is a Hudson Newcomers
must. This is not the Bunco special interest group
gathering, but rather a 60-person Bunco extravaganza.
If is one of our most popular ladies-only event, and
it's our first beg event of the season.
Playing
Bunco does not require any experience, so please do not
worry if you have never played. The rules are very
simple, and we will teach you that night. With
very quick and easy rotations from table to table during
the game, it's a great evening to meet new people and
catch up with old friends. There will be some
fantastic appetizers and desserts, along with a cash bar
and prizes for the winners.
Please pay
in advance to guarantee your spot. You can print
the
Bunco Reservation Form and mail it in with a check
or pay online via PayPal below (enter your name
and phone number and then click "Buy Now". You
will be redirected to PayPal to complete payment.
You can print your PayPal receipt as confirmation). If you have a
friend or neighbor you would like to come, please bring
them with you (but make sure to reserve a spot for
them).
Relay for
Life
Friday, June 11 to Saturday June 12
Hudson High School Track
Team Theme: Wild About a Cure"
We have
decided on a great theme for our Relay for
Life Team, "Wild About a Cure for Cancer."
This means that at the Relay for Life event
we will have a jungle theme and our goal is
to make it a fun day for families. In
line with this theme, we will be selling
raffle tickets for a chance to win a great
family package to Kalahari Water Park in
Sandusky which includes a two-room suite
(African Queen room) and 6 water park
passes. We will be selling tickets for
$1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Tickets
will be sold at both Hudson Newcomers Club
and Hudson Preschool Parents events up until
Relay for Life.
To become a team
member go to
www.relayforlife.org and look for Hudson
Newcomers and Hudson Preschool Parents (we
form a joint team). To get
involved in Relay for Life contact Jen Puhl
